Alex Pascall, OBE

 
 


An extraordinary artist with many areas of true expertise, style and dynamic presence. Don’t miss Alex either  live on stage, live on air, or in lecture as he still performs as an Oral Historian, Singer/Songwriter/Percussionist and Cultural Consultant around the United Kingdom, USA, Japan or internationally.


       

A popular freelance broadcaster for 14 years, Alex also produced and presented Black Londoners, Britain 's first magazine daily Black radio programmed on the BBC of which he wrote the signiature tune for the programme of the same name.



Alex is also a popular feature within BBC/PBS award winning childrens series, Teletubbies and has recently released his songs from this series, ‘Handy Hands’ & ‘Rocking Chair’.

As a playwright, he has written works for the National Curriculum including Common Threads - The Musical available as a full colour play text with 22 track CD & Workbook and Student book and and his Rap Drama, The Traveler’s Symphony served as an executive member of the National Union of Journalist and is the Chairman of its Black Members Council. Alex was awarded the OBE for his services to community relations through his broadcasting and journalistic work.



Black Londoner's became the focal point and outlet for Black British art and culture sport and politics. At the height of his broadcasting career Alex co-founded the Britain’s 1st Natonal Black Newspaper, the Voice newspaper.



Alex Chaired the Notting Hill Carnival or four years and is a Founder Vice-President for the Foundaton of European Carnival Cities (Federation European Carnival Cities). The author of “We Ting’ Notting Hill Carnival” A Poetic Narrative”.

                                                                  Common Threads was originally a play commissioned by Gwent Theatre in Education in South Wales 2001.
