Alex Pascall, OBE
Alex Pascall is a broadcaster, for 14 years he produced and presented “Black Londoners ” Britain 's first magazine daily Black radio programmes on the BBC and developed a host of creative educational programmes for diversity in education.

He is a playwright, percussionist/vocalist, and songwriter; he has served as an executive member of the National Union of Journalist and is the Chairman of its Black Members Council. Alex was awarded the OBE for his services to community relations through his broadcasting and journalistic work.

Black Londoner's became the focal point and outlet for Black British art and culture sport and politics. At the height of his broadcasting career Alex co-founded the “ Voice” newspaper. He Chaired the Notting Hill Carnival for four years and is a Founder Vice-President for the European Carnival Cities . He is the author of “We Ting’ Notting Hill Carnival” A Poetic Narrative and ‘ Common Threads' a play commissioned by Gwent Theatre in Education in South Wales 2001. The play, re-written Common Threads The Musical was show cased for the celebration of Camden 's 2003 Black History Month at Swiss Cottage library. The musical is an uplifting, joyous fusion of styles and melodies from the Welsh valleys and the Caribbean, suitable for drama in education for Key Stages 2,3,4, GNVQ, and GCSE & A LEVEL.

The story so far, in July 2004 A L’Ocean Production of vignettes of Alex Pascall’s Common Threads played to a full house at Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, London. Directed by Ian Spiby, Musical Director Deirdre Pascall, Choreographer Luis Gallo-Mudarra and produced by Roger Elsgood.

 “I thought the content of the play was brilliant and thought provoking. I think I described it to my daughter as the most seditious play I’d seen in a long while. Should be compulsory for all children to see. They might end up with a clue about the world.

Alex is available for talks and lectures, residencies and INSET with a cross-cultural global perspective for primary secondary and adult education. Contracts for production licence can be obtained.
